The client is a privately-owned multinational chemicals company headquartered in London, UK. It is the top chemicals company in the world as measured by sales revenue. 

With a proven track record of delivering top quality inspections and surveys, the client approached T J Hazell to carry out a visual inspection and subsequently produce a report with recommendations for repair to the jetty structure.

Having been on their procurement list for a long time, the client knows that we are a reliable and knowledgeable team of experts, available nationally or at a local level and excellent in collaboration with other contractors and engineering consultants.

Solution

Our flexible approach – working with the tides, client’s shutdown team and contractors – meant that we:

• Carried out the survey in a timely and safe manner
• Produced a condition report to quickly satisfy the client’s operational and project needs
• Outlined repair procedures to be carried out by a contractor
• Reviewed the contractors work as site repairs progressed.

If not surveyed and repaired in a timely manner, the jetty could have been made inoperable and potentially out of service. This would have meant huge loading/unloading problems, as ship access is crucial and the jetty must remain operational to ensure continued plant production.

Results 

Our solution allowed continued use of the jetty whilst repairs were being carried out. It also gave longevity to the jetty for years to come.
